David Silva joined Manchester City in the summer of 2010 from Valencia and was given the number 21 shirt.
He made his league debut against Spurs on the 14th August 2010 and later scored his first league goal against Blackpool on the 17th October 2010. He came on as a substitute for Emmual Adebayor in the 66th minute and within a minute he’s taken the ball past two defenders and curled a shot round Blackpool’s keeper Matt Gilks.
The Spaniard soon gained the nickname ‘el mago’ which translated means the magician with his existe touch and intelligent visionary nature.
He made 436 appearances for City and scored 77 goals, leaving the Club as a well loved player and recognised as one as the best in the world.
Silva won the player of the month, top assist provider, Manchester City’s player of the season, part of the PFA team of the year and the PL team of the decade whilst with the Club. Alongside those honours, he won 14 trophies during his 10 years at Manchester City
Under Roberto Mancini, Silva won:
- 2010/2011 the FA Cup
- 2011/12 the League title after the Aguerooooo moment!
- 2012/13 the Community Shield
Under Manuel Pellegrini, Silva won:
- 2013/14 both the League title and cup
- 2015/16 the League cup
Under Pep Guardiola, Silva won:
- 2017/18 the League title
- 2018/19 the record breaking season with 4 trophies including the League title and cup, FA Cup and Community Shield
- 2019/20 his last season at the Club winning the Community Shield and League cup
He later signed for Spanish club Real Sociedad on a free transfer on the 17th August 2020 aged 34 where he has continued to make an impact with his talented left-foot.
